I was born & raised in a traditional south Indian family in Mumbai, India. At a very young age, I was introduced to the science of Bhakti Yoga where kitchen and cooking is just the extension of your spiritual life and daily practices. Exploring the fresh exotic looking vegetables, aromatic spices, and flavors always induced me with more inspiration to understand the ancient sciences of cooking in Ayurveda, Yoga & Foods in mode of goodness....... just like it is said - "You are what you eat " and " Food is Medicine ." Based on these principles of Ayurveda, Bhakti (Devotional Sciences) & Yoga, Here @ FOOD FOR THE SOUL, I would like to share a few of my humble offerings which are just a small way of expressing my love and gratitude towards the Lord of creation for all the wonderful things He has created and being amazed when I cook each item with different ingredients &spices. When honoring the prasadam (remnants of the Lord ) I’m always mesmerized by how the Lord created so many different kinds of vegetables, fruits, spices and you put them together turns out to be FOOD For THE SOUL!
By Gods grace, I got married into a nice south Indian Gaud Sarasvat Brahmin family where I had great opportunities to explore Mangalorian / Karnataka dishes and get to learn them personally by in-laws and the extended family. My good Husband, H.G. Gaura Natarajais a Yoga teacher and has a Masters Degree in Yogic Sciences and Vedic Astrology and it is by His great encouragement, I too pursued traditional Yoga, Food, and Diet related to lifestyle from S. VYASA University of Bangalore.
Foodforthesoul.net is not just ANOTHER website for delicious recipes focused only on externals such and taste & flavors but with the inner nourishing aspects of body, mind, and soul as said by Srila Prabhupada -Founder Acarya of ISKCON " the purpose of Food is to increase the duration of life, purify the mind and aid bodily strength. This is it's the only purpose."

BHUMI & MOMMY - So here in this section I will be posting recipes that are simple and easy with loads of fun having the little hands work together with you. Cooking works like Meditation therapy for kids. Try it to believe it.
HERBAL TEA - Learn to make different kinds of amazing tea and infusions with healthy combinations of spices that are always there in your pantry and never realized how aromatic they can be!
HOME REMEDIES - Grandma's old tricks & gigs works better than many over the counter medicines. Of course, I don't mean you never need a doctor, but ancient people knew how to treat the common cold, cough, digestive issues, aches, and bruises. Never hurts trying and seeing the long term results.
CLEANSING SMOOTHIES & JUICES - Learn how to make juices and smoothies the right way. Which combinations are healthy and which are not.
VEGAN & GLUTEN FREE - I do have lots of vegan and gluten-free healthy wholesome recipes, in fact, the recipes that are on the website uploaded , many are vegan & gluten-free, I will be highlighting those and posting the new once very soon.
